“But Father,” Ranell had more questions. “What about my employees? I’ve failed them. I can’t help thinking about how much their families will suffer.”
Mendoza wrapped an arm around Ranell’s shoulders. “Listen to me, Josef. You cannot use your will to force a different outcome than one which God has wrought. You have done your best, but they are not ‘your’ employees anymore.”
Ranell didn't answer, but this fresh perspective stretched his mind.
“I’m not telling you that these people will not suffer,” Mendoza continued. “They will.”
Ranell recoiled at the thought, but Mendoza held him fast.
“I’m telling you that you must trust that they will be able to endure it.”
“How can you know that?” Ranell’s words trailed off, but he no longer fought to fix everything. He was beginning to accept the facts being presented to him.
