Nouriel Roubini has been a very influential figure to me in developing this novel.
Born in Turkey, Dr. Roubini is a prominent Iranian-American economic consultant, economist, and writer. Widely recognized for his accurate prediction of the 2007–08 financial crisis, he earned the moniker “Dr. Doom” for his consistent projections of economic downturns. He has also the additional epithet “permabear” within the media.
While serving as a Professor Emeritus since 2021 at the Stern School of Business of New York University, Roubini joined with renowned economists such as Dean Baker, Raghuram Rajan, and Stephen Roach, as well as other experts like Meredith Whitney and Peter Schiff, who collectively anticipated the market crash.
Here he is talking about the economics of our near future:
As a Futurist, I do not make point predictions. My job is to portray multiple plausible futures and then allow you to calculate the odds. That’s why Directed Fiction uses the multi-path adventure format. It is the most accurate representation of how people actually face future events.
Enjoy the story and choose carefully!
